Owen Morton is a Liverpool-born country singer-songwriter who is reinventing the sound of 80s and 90s American country music and bringing it to audiences across the UK and beyond. His music draws heavily on the crying of steel guitars, twangy telecasters and songwriting that touches hearts of both the young and old. Being a full time performer, Owen supports his musical ambitions by playing at weddings, festivals, honky tonks and events all over the UK - never staying in one place for too long and being faithful to the open road.

 

As a young man growing up in the age of AI and rapidly advancing technology, Owen’s songs focus on the things that make us fundamentally human - featuring themes like love and heartbreak, hope and nostalgia, triumph and hardship. His own struggle, being a small artist carrying the weight of big dreams and a steadfast determination, manifests often in his music and in such a way that allows the listener to find their own stories within the songs. Influenced by ‘golden era‘ artists such as George Strait, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Travis Tritt and Joe Diffie, the music itself draws on the retro sounds, melodies and storytelling that first made Owen fall in love with country music as young Liverpool teenager.

 

Growing up happily in a Liverpool home, Owen had great musical influence from his parents and grandmother, leading him to as a young child to play cello and to write poetry for fun. As a teenager, Owen became fascinated with the sounds of old country music and, shortly after, picked up the guitar so that he could play and sing his favourite tunes. After years of honing his craft, Owen began work as a remote session vocalist during the COVID pandemic, taking orders from clients across the world and putting his voice onto their records and demos. Through this, he became acquainted with Texas rapper Swilson, who asked him to sing on two entire country-folk albums. With immediate success coming as a result of this collaboration - the songs racking up hundreds of thousands of streams within the first month - Owen used this as a springboard to kick off his own artist career. Raw acoustic hard-hitter “Same Page” was the first song he released as his own artist, and for the next year he would experiment with more contemporary styles of the genre before finding his path back to traditional country music. Realising that this is where his passion solely lied, Owen followed his heart to Nashville where he cut his debut album ‘Made For Me, Made For You’ - which shortly after received a 2026 Album of the Year nomination for the British Country Music Association awards - paying homage to his roots and drawing on the sounds that made country music what it once was.

 

2027 will be an exciting and prospective year for Owen Morton. It will see him perform across the pond in Canada as part of the Retro Country Experience show as well as at some major UK festivals, the release of a live EP, and work will even be underway on a brand new album.
